Flavi Vismano Brand Logo
1958
Mr. Vismano Flavi established a small artisan factory to manufacture high-end leather goods for numerous Italian brands mainly for the Italian domestic market.
1975-1979
The first Vismano collection in a wide range of models was introduced, and the market was overwhelming. Many of the best retailers in Italy as well as Bloomingdales of New York placed orders. Overseas retailers soon discovered Vismano and began to buy. Among them were Susan of London in New Bond Street, Harvey Nichols in London and Nan Hen Leather Goods, a large multi-brand store in Singapore.
1980-1981
The collections of Vismano had matured by then and attracted prestigious Japanese companies as well as other fashion importers in the Far East. Trial orders were placed.
A large trading company in Hong Kong was appointed the exclusive agent. In the same year, another aggressive company started distribution in Taiwan.
Considerable success was attained with the launching of the Sporting Collection in plastified logo jacquard with a sensational beige colour. Since then Vismano became one of the most sought after and respected Italian brands world-wide.
1982
Flavi Vismano image corner was setup in Betty Clemo’s fashion store in the Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong.
1983
Flavi Vismano boutique was opened in Prince’s Building in Central, Hong Kong. Later in the year, reputable companies were appointed as agents in Japan, Korea and Singapore.
1984
Focusing on trendy designs but with a classic touch, the Duomo and Noblesse Collections were created. These 2 historical collections made Vismano further well-known and comparable to the best brands in the world.
1986
Hong Kong became the strategic centre of distribution in Asia and Hawaii. The agent was given responsibility to manage and maintain the high image of the Flavi Vismano brand in the region.
1988
A special event celebrating the 30th anniversary of Flavi Vismano was held at the Royal Garden in Hong Kong. Overseas agents, customers and the media attended the celebration. The highlight of the event was the launching of 2 new collections – Sporting II and The Reserved Line.
1992
The elegant collection of Vismano 1926 helped push up sales in the USA, thanks to a newly-appointed agent in San Francisco. Nordstrom Dept. Store was the main American retailer for this collection.
1993
Another collection, The Venus Polar, in synthetic leather and vivid colours became an instant success as soon as it was launched. The market in Japan was most receptive to this line.
1994
Distribution started in China, and Vismano was sold in numerous dept. stores and own shops, throughout the country. In the meantime two new trendy collection were launched - Finesse and Cotton Croco.
1995-2000
The project would certainly have launched the Brand strongly all over China had not the dramatic events of 1998 compelled some partners in Hong Kong to break off promotional investments.
In fact the Asiatic Stock Exchange collapse, Hong Kong in particular, and the consequent recession of Japanese economy, further aggravated by the earthquake in Kobe, left everyone in business seriously disconcerted.
Under these circumstances the Italian factory decided to adjourn the project till better times.
Despite all this, the new Vismano leather collections, as Inside line - in a wide range of models, was introduced and well received especially in Japan.
But the traditional selling methods in Japan were becoming less effective and up to date.
2001
In 2001, after a series of unpredictable events, the Flavi family decided to wind up the factory in Florence, thus suspending all projects.
2002-2005
A new generation of the Flavi family acquired the Flavi Vismano trademark.
Following the trendy design, a new selected series was created. It was made in soft coated fabric and called Sporting Soft.
2006-2011
A large manufacturer company was appointed the exclusive licensee for Hong Kong and China. The design was made by the prestigious Studio Francesco Turchi of Florence. A new version of Sporting Soft collection was called Essence.
Unfortunately the licensee was focused on producing for other famous foreign brands, and he failed the Flavi Vismano re-launch. The license contract was amicably closed after a couple of years.
2012-2015
Sharing the trademark rights, the Flavi family discussed to join an overseas group about a new launch of Flavi Vismano. The project also was aimed at introducing "Made in Italy" leather goods and initiating a number of distribution and license agreements. The opening of a number of flagship stores was discussed as well.
After more than a year of negotiations, the agreement was not reached.
2016
Mr. Vismano passed away at ninety, leaving lots of memories of wisdom and skill.
2017
Mr. Andrea Flavi recovered the Brand.
